a bit about Desiree J.

What are you working on these days?

I am working on upcoming releases at my label Snowhite Records and on marketing & sales strategies for the American distributor INgrooves Music Group. I also work for a non-profit association for Independent labels in Germany called VUT. We have a project called Music Industry Women where we try to build up awareness for more diversity in the music industry...

What drives you mad these days?

Too many wars and egoistic humans all over the world. Not caring about the environment! It could be so easy: Sharing is caring.

What makes you happy?

The little things which pop up when you least expect them….They always make me smile.

When was the last time you cried?

I don't cry… I am a happy person.

What’s your latest musical obsession?

At the moment I dig Norwegian Music like Gundelach, but also other artists like i.e. Jarbird. David Bowie is always on my playlist... And of course Oum Shatt, Elle P., Velvet Two Stripes, Snøffeltøffs and Ken Dolman, which albums I have released on my label Snowhite Records...

What was the last movie you watched? Was it any good?

Captain America Civil War... Fell asleep... But my hubby loved it!

When it’s time for a new wardrobe, where do you go?

There are so many great stores in Berlin such as Voo-Store, & Other Stories... Walk up and down Kastanienallee and you'll always find something you take home...

What’s your go-to café in Berlin?

As a Café I really like Spreegold on Hufelandstrasse in Prenzlauer Berg... I also like Kaffeeraum on the opposite site of Spreegold.

What’s your favorite street or neighborhood to wander through?

Kastanienallee, Hufelandstrasse and of course Mitte (Linienstrasse).

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in Berlin but never actually do?

I would love to jump on these sightseeing boat trips which start at Hackescher Markt. Or go to the top of Alexanderturm.

Who’s your hero (dead or alive) and where would you take them to show them a good time?

I don't have one specific hero, cause if your neighbour is a good person and cares about other people he/she can be a hero and you just don't know it. But I would love to take Jim Morrison & Nico together to The Grand in Mitte.

If it’s been raining outside for days and you’re sick of staying in – where would you go?

The Naturkundemuseum, Dinosaurs are amazing!

What’s that place in Berlin you feel like only you know about?

On Chorinerstrasse there is the space between two houses, where you can find one table tennis table.

If tomorrow was your last day in Berlin before you left for good, how and where would you spend it?

I would go to Hamburger Bahnhof and sit the whole day in front of this huge Mao painting. Staring-competition. 🙂

Given the choice, mayor of which neighborhood would you be?

Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte.

What’s the spot in Berlin you wouldn’t be caught dead in?

Europazentrum in Westberlin at Kudamm.

You’ve just received the best news ever. Where would you go to celebrate and with whom?

Of course at 8mm Bar on Schönhauser Allee.

What’s the thing you love doing that isn’t work, relationship or family related?

Yoga in the park, painting horses at home, knitting.

When you feel like a night out, what’s your go-to place and why?

Again 8 mm or Neubar.
