a bit about Stephanie

What do you do and why do you do it?

I'm a content producer for an awesome marketing agency in Brighton called Brilliant Noise. I love marketing because it combines creativity with science, I do a lot of writing day to day too so it's the dream job for me!

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so effing bad?

I haven't ever had a job I hated. My first job was waitressing my local village pub and I didn't love washing dishes, but it wasn't so bad! I used to steal lots of chips.

Were you born and raised in Brighton? If not, where did you grow up and what brought you to Brighton?

I am not born and bred Brighton, I am from up North near Leeds. Yorkshire is amazing, but I moved to Brighton after one magical weekend down here visiting a friend. It was glorious sunshine and we had a wild night out then lounged on the beach playing cards the next day. It was basically the best weekend ever and I started planning moving here on the way home.

What’s your current hood in Brighton and what’s the best/worst thing about it?

I live in the Seven Dials area, which centres around a tiny roundabout with seven streets going off it. It's awesome because it's very close to everything and has great restaurants, coffee shops and delis. The only bad thing is it has the world's tiniest Co-Op which is a I've nicknamed 'anxiety Co-Op'.

What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?

I listen to noisy guitar music, psych and 70s disco mainly. I HATE whiney X Factor churned pop, or anything 'gabba'?

You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?

Blink 182 usually get it right with break up songs. I'd personally probably listen to some grime and strut around to make myself feel better.

Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?

Girls and Broad City are my faves because I like that they have female lead characters, they're also written by women and are funny. I'm committed to Game of Thrones, I don't even know why anymore, I just am. Other all time faves are Lost and Sex and the City.

Name some spots in Brighton that are good for a Tinder date.

If you are smart you would go for coffee on a first Tinder date to keep it short n sweet, so I'd recommend Pelicano on Sydney Street because it has a pretty back garden, excellent coffee and next level cake to share. If you are not smart you will go drinking on a first date and make bad decisions (tehe) so you should go to Valentino's for some cocktails and balcony people-watching.

Which public figure would you want to see “roasted”? (every public figure is fair game).

I mean, Donald Trump. Just someone for god's sake put that giant baby in his place.

Who’s your hero and where in Brighton would you take them out for a serious hang?

My hero is Patti Smith because she's not only an amazing musician and artist but also an incredible writer. I'd take her to Snooper's Paradise for a wander.

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

Wolf & Gypsy vintage, COS, Tidy Street Store and The Internet.

What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?

West Street after 8pm. Eurgh.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

Paddle Board.

Where do you go in Brighton for a casual night out?

Lion & Lobster, The Revelator or The Great Eastern.

Where would you go in Brighton to celebrate some freaking good news?

Riddle & Finns or The Urchin for a fish supper.

What’s your choice of transportation in Brighton and why?

Biking or walking because everywhere is walking or cycling distance.

What are the Brighton spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

The sea front, The Pavilion and The Lanes.

What are the Brighton spots tourists should run from screaming?

Any spot where there is a congregation of enormous seagulls, they will carry away your Gran if you don't hold her down. But seriously, they will take your food. Burrito, roast dinner, they'll take it.

Tomorrow’s your last day in Brighton. How do you spend it?

Bagels and coffee at Nowhere Man, BBQ at the beach, piano bingo at the Bedford Tavern and karaoke at Lucky Voice.

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

At the moment, Lisbon because it's amazing but also because it's where my finance and I got engaged <3
