a bit about Jada
What do you do and why do you do it?
Communications Strategy is the title for the work that I carry out for clients but actually, I am a storyteller. I pull out the importance of the work, identify it's relevance and share it with the world. That's what gets me up in the morning. The opportunity to share good stories.
You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?
I'm married and my hubby protects my heart quite nicely but...Solange's "Cranes in the Sky" and Jamiroquai's "Falling" are my sulky go to's.
What are the best TV shows of all time?
The West Wing, Absolutely Fabulous (UK), Sex and the City, House of Cards and The Wire.
Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?
I'm a big fan of mixing vintage with new and in Chicago for vintage my go-to's are A Lotta of Good Stuff that happens to be a few blocks away from my home in Bronzeville, and the Randolph Street Market that takes place monthly throughout the year.
What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?
When you truly love your city, you love it in its entirety. So for me, there isn't any area that's off limits. There's beauty everywhere.
What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?
Picnic on the lakefront! Every summer I say that I will make time and it never happens...
What’s the most decadent / extreme dish you ever ate in San Francisco and where did you get it?
Well let's see, my husband Chef Julius is a culinary genius, so I would have to say my kitchen or one of his pop-up restaurant events. Most recently, I think I ate four servings of his Saffron Pappardelle and Truffle.
Is there a hidden bar / hole in the wall in San Francisco that you particularly like?
There is cool spot in Pilsen called Thalia Hall that's gotten great buzz but its the basement level, Punch House, is where the magic happens.
Where would you take your partner in San Francisco if you wanted to really pamper them?
The Peninsula. Fine dining and a GREAT spa.
Which snacks can you only get in your country, and which ones do you recommend?
Hands down, cheese and caramel popcorn. It satisfies both sweet and savory cravings. Garrets Popcorn is the best!
What’s the one place you think is underrated in San Francisco?
The South and West sides. The news reports are filled with images of poverty and violence but there are so many great people and organizations that work tirelessly against that narrative. A major part of my work focuses on communications and community engagement support for organizations carrying out this work, and I could be more proud being a south sider!
What are the San Francisco spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?
Michigan Avenue and Oak Street for shopping. The Art Institute and Millennium Park for site-seeing. The south side - Bronzeville, Hyde Park and Woodlawn neighborhoods for culture.
What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?
For now I have to say Miami, only because when I explore new places, I "travel" and there is very little R&R. Miami forces me to slow down. Beach, eat, shop, sleep, repeat. Oh and dance! When I make it back to Israel, it may take the lead. My first visit there was for work but it is my mission to spend a considerable amount of time on it's beautiful Mediterranean beaches.
