a bit about Sadie

What do you do and why do you do it?

I am a graphic designer because I love design! Nothing excites me like clean lines and crisp letters.

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so effing bad?

The worst job I ever had was in college, I was hired to be a designer for a research lab on campus. Things I actually did included stuffing envelopes and making brain logos. Every single project they wanted a different looking brain logo. Brain logos get old really fast.

Were you born and raised in Chicago? If not, where did you grow up and what brought you to Chicago?

I was actually born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Less than two hours north of Chicago. Milwaukee is a wonderful city, but small. After college I wanted a change of scenery, I wound up in Chicago because, to be honest, I never even thought about going anywhere else.

What’s your current hood in Chicago and what’s the best/worst thing about it?

I live in Lakeview, pretty close to Wrigley Field. The best part is that there is always something going on and always somewhere new to try. The worst is Cubs games days when I'm just trying to get home and there are hoards of drunk people everywhere. Although days when I get to go to the game and being one of those drunk people is a blast!

What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?

I'm not really a huge music buff, I generally just listen to what's popular (SORRY) Although I do hate country - it's just people whining.

You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?

Ed Sheeran?

Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?

Brooklyn Nine Nine and New Girl. Short and sweet and hilarious.

Name some spots in Chicago that are good for a Tinder date.

Well, if you're actually trying to start a relationship, I'd say Sheffield's. If you're trying to one and done, I'd say just bar hop through River North or Wrigley.

Which public figure would you want to see “roasted”? (every public figure is fair game).

Donald Trump, Mike Pence, you get it.

Who’s your hero and where in Chicago would you take them out for a serious hang?

Tina Fey. I'd make HER take ME to Second City to hang. I hear she has the in there or something.

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

Nordstroms. Guilty pleasure for sure.

What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?

River North bars. If I'm there, it was against my will.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

Eat! Try new restaurants. Also walk along the lake in Lincoln Park.

Where do you go in Chicago for a casual night out?

Bars in Lakeview or Lincoln Park.

Where would you go in Chicago to celebrate some freaking good news?

Italian food for sure! I have a few favorite spots, check my map!

What’s your choice of transportation in Chicago and why?

I like the el. It's a great view of the city when it's above ground. Also no traffic on the el!

What are the Chicago spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

The neighborhoods! They are all great, basically just don't hang out in the loop, hang out anywhere else. Literally anywhere else!

What are the Chicago spots tourists should run from screaming?

Michigan Ave, the Bean, Navy Pier. Don't ever go to Navy Pier, biggest waste of your time EVER.

Tomorrow’s your last day in Chicago. How do you spend it?

Crying, walking through the city and stopping at all my favorite restaurants on the way.

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

SO MANY. Top few favorite places include: Milan, Barcelona, Nice, Tel Aviv, Budapest, Buenos Aires. They all have great food, great design, and great people!
