a bit about Angel

What do you do and why do you do it?

I'm a Textile Designer for children's wear. So on the daily you can catch me illustrating prints and graphics for kids clothes, anything from dinos to unicorns. I knew I always wanted to be in fashion but I've always loved working with children too so when the opportunity came I ran with it. It's a cool job and someones gotta do it.

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so effing bad?

Working at this retail store where someone did a terrible thing in the dressing room. Shame on you!

Were you born and raised in Dallas? If not, where did you grow up and what brought you to Dallas?

I've been all over. I was born in Chicago and then moved to Ohio when I was a teen. It wasn't until after college that I moved to Dallas for work. Midwestern at heart but got the Southern food in my belly.

What’s your current hood in Dallas and what’s the best/worst thing about it?

I'm up in North Dallas right now. What I love about it is that I'm so close to my favorite Tex-Mex place (Mena's). The worst is that I'm far from my other favorite place (Velvet Taco)

What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?

Anything with a good beat and that will get me to dance I'm cool with. Honestly, ask my friends, I live for nights out to dance. I don't think I HATE anything. I could probably do away with some metal music.

You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?

Probs some Adele. She's a queen.

Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?

GAME OF THRONES.. I mean have you seen it? and Friends to counteract the crazy in GOT with some laughs. What can I say, I love me some dragons and 90's sitcoms.

Name some spots in Dallas that are good for a Tinder date.

Hmm tough question for me since I've been dating my dude for awhile now (like before Tinder was even invented.. I know we are ancient but I love it) Anyway, a couple of gal friends like to keep it casual so White Rock or taking a stroll down Greenville with a Steel City popsicle is where they land.

Which public figure would you want to see “roasted”? (every public figure is fair game).

Chelsea Handler but only cuz she's badass and can dish it right back.

Who’s your hero and where in Dallas would you take them out for a serious hang?

My grandma is my hero for sure. I'd have to say I would take that little lady to Kate Weiser's chocolates and then hang at the Dallas Farmer's Market .

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

If I can spare a really pretty penny, Gypsy Wagon has some great stuff. But really, I shop anywhere.

What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?

On the Dart at 2 am.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

Sit and picnic at the Arboretum. Literally one of my favorite spots. It's like a little oasis in this urban city. It's lovely.

Where do you go in Dallas for a casual night out?

Trinity Groves for sure. Great view of the skyline and so many options for food. Do a Margarita at Bento and Son.

Where would you go in Dallas to celebrate some freaking good news?

The Mansion is where it's at when I'm feelin' fancy AF

What’s your choice of transportation in Dallas and why?

Usually uber. The city is so big and there is so many places to go, it's just the easiest with Uber. I've done the dart a few time as well but as mentioned before no late night trips!

What are the Dallas spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

The Rustic brunch is a MUST. Listen to live music outside and smash on some delicious food. Truck Yard for sure. I remember the first time I walked into Truck Yard my exact words "this place is the shit" I mean we're talk this sweet beer garden decked out in well, Truck yard stuff, with live music and great food trucks to choose from. OOH and you have to try their Trash Can Punch. It is on point.

What are the Dallas spots tourists should run from screaming?

Maybe the aquarium. There are cooler ones in the world.

Tomorrow’s your last day in Dallas. How do you spend it?

Start with yoga at Community Brewery, then paddle board at White Rock Lake, then dinner at Smokey Rose, dessert at Milk n' Cream, Dancing either somewhere in Knox/Henderson or at Kung Fu, finally Late night tacos at Taco Velvet. What a dream day.

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

El Nido, Palawan in the Philippines. Gorgeous. Just absolutely breath taking. If you ever get a chance to go... take me with you.
