a bit about Michael
What do you do and why do you do it?
Currently the Vice President of AGENCYFIFTY3. We create content and run digital ads for commercial and multifamily real estate.
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so effing bad?
I used to sell magazine advertising. If you ever think you're having a bad Monday, try cold-calling a bunch of disgruntled bar and restaurant owners in the middle of the day.
Were you born and raised in Denver? If not, where did you grow up and what brought you to Denver?
I grew up in El Paso, Texas, then moved to Austin for college and stayed for 10 years. I've been in Denver 2.5 years now.
What’s your current hood in Denver and what’s the best/worst thing about it?
West Denver. It's literally the last Denver exit on Highway 6 before you head to the mountains!
What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?
I listen to blues rock. Hate's a strong word. What kind of a monster hates music?!
You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?
Shakey Graves - Dearly Departed. Childish Gambino - Heartbeat.
Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?
Game of Thrones - Idk, dragons.
Name some spots in Denver that are good for a Tinder date.
It's super obvious that you're on a first date and everyone is ease dropping as you struggle through awkward small talk. Don't forget to furrow your brow while attentively nodding your head like you're in the middle of some intense philosophical lecture. Then, laugh really loud (at everything) so the other person (and the rest of America) knows how funny you think they are. Just kidding. Go to Old Major or Izakaya Den.
Which public figure would you want to see “roasted”? (every public figure is fair game).
Who’s your hero and where in Denver would you take them out for a serious hang?
Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?
Armitage & McMillan, Soul Haus, Sully & Co. All great spots for men's clothing. Favorite designer is John Varvatos.
What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?
I hope I won't be caught dead anywhere. I have plans later.
What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?
I wouldn't say never, but camping. I wish I could go camping 7 days/week. I only go 1-2 times/month from April - September.
Where do you go in Denver for a casual night out?
Atticus. It's an intimate restaurant with soft lighting and great cocktails. There's a sports bar attached to the side if that's more your speed.
Where would you go in Denver to celebrate some freaking good news?
Guard and Grace, Beast + Bottle, Linger
What’s your choice of transportation in Denver and why?
Uber. Our public transportation isn't as advanced and convenient as most major cities.
What are the Denver spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?
Union Station, it's an architectural wonder.
What are the Denver spots tourists should run from screaming?
You probably shouldn't run from anywhere screaming. People might think you're chemically imbalanced.
Tomorrow’s your last day in Denver. How do you spend it?
In the mountains. There are 100+ mountain activities, pick one. You can sleep on the plane.
What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?
Panama City, Panama. Go to Casco Viejo, it's a beautiful old city with amazing food and great drinks. It was built on a peninsula, so almost every spot has ocean views. Guaranteed to give your Instagram followers hardcore FOMO.
