a bit about Eden

What do you do and why do you do it?

I'm currently studying economies and political science in Hebrew University, and I work as a waiter in a very nice pub called "Freddy Lemmon" in the Machne Yehuda market (full recommandation later). I also climb every once in a while and go to sing-along events. why? University - cause you kinda have to if you don't wanna be a drifter here in Israel. The pub - cause I love it and the people are great. Climbing & singing - cause I'm hyperactive and mentally old

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so effing bad?

In high school I was this guy handing out new appetizers for old people in the supermarket. the job mostly included small talks with 70 year old grandmas and cottage cheesed

Were you born and raised in Jerusalem? If not, where did you grow up and what brought you to Jerusalem?

I grew up in Or-Yehuda, which is a small town near Tel-Aviv. Regardless of the fact that the University I wanted to study in is here, Jerusalem has always been an intriguing place for me. I feel like people come to Jerusalem in order to find themselves. I hope one day I'll also find myself

What’s your current hood in Jerusalem and what’s the best/worst thing about it?

I live right next to the city hall, the hood is simply called "center of town" (or "Markaz Ha'ir" in Hebrew). so it's very close to everything but can also be ridiculously noisy

What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?

I guess mostly old classic Israeli music, and everything that involves black people trilling. If you put me in a closed room with metal music i'll probably kill myself

You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?

"kiss me" by sixpence none the richer can cure every broken heart

Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?

Well I have to say House. Hugh laurie is a genius

Name some spots in Jerusalem that are good for a Tinder date.

tinder? come on, yours or his/her place

Which public figure would you want to see “roasted”? (every public figure is fair game).

I wanna say Trump, but what I really wanna say is jay z. can't stand the guy

Who’s your hero and where in Jerusalem would you take them out for a serious hang?

I don't know if he's my hero, but i would love sitting with the israeli poet Meir Ariel in the coffee house "Tmol Shilshom", a hipstery place in the center of town

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

mainly second hand shops, but also H&M and Forever21

What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?

Yosef Rivlin street, AKA "the pubs alley"

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

just walking around the old city. so beautiful and interesting

Where do you go in Jerusalem for a casual night out?

usually Mahane Yehuda market (or just "the market" as it is called by everyone here), which turns into a cool pubs and restaurants maze at night

Where would you go in Jerusalem to celebrate some freaking good news?

"Babeitcafe", the best belgian waffle place here, kind of an institution really

What’s your choice of transportation in Jerusalem and why?

if your'e not up for a cab - like the poor student I am - the choice is between the bus and the light rail. always take the light rail if you can

What are the Jerusalem spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

old city, the market, "Hamizkaka" (a great place for small concerts in Shoshan street), Sacher park

What are the Jerusalem spots tourists should run from screaming?

I was about to say "all the hasidic neighbourhoods", but then I figured it can be quite interesting seeing what life there is like. just make sure to wear something long when you go there

Tomorrow’s your last day in Jerusalem. How do you spend it?

I would start my day with a breakfast in "Kadosh", go tour the old city, climb a bit, find a cool concert to go to, and finish with a burger in "burger marker" near Machne Yehuda

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

London. the combination of british accent and chilly weather
