a bit about Romi

What do you do and why do you do it?

I do soap bubbles for a living, because it makes everyone smile.

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so effing bad?

hmmm…. hard question.

Were you born and raised in Jerusalem?

I was born in Jerusalem, but grew up close to the beach near Natanya. Returned to Jerusalem for high school. Studied physics in Tel Aviv and returned again to Jerusalem (for Applied Physics MSc. and for good) after meeting my wife to be, in a birthday party in T’mol Shilshom Cafe… here’s apparently the first spot on my CC map.

What’s your current hood in Jerusalem and what’s the best/worst thing about it?

Baka. It’s great because it’s walking distance from the theatre, cinemas, good food places, Talpiot industrial zone and the old city, very green area with many authentic old arabic houses. It’s 15 minutes drive deep into Jerusalem when coming from Tel Aviv – this is a minus when going west. but driving from Baka away to the desert, dead sea, Shomron or Beer Sheaba through the territories is swift. I like heading in these directions, less urban, more air.

What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?

My wife is a GAGA teacher so I listen to what she dances to… I like exploring new music with apple music “create a station”. Some of my recent favorite discoveries – Ras G – Baby Ray’s Laugh, 2Tall – Peaceful Warrior, 1000names – Migration Pads. I also love Eran Tzur and Nati Hassid. I love Balkan beatbox and Balkan BaMahsan. I’ll probably never listen by choice to Eyal Golan.
