a bit about Shterny

What do you do and why do you do it?

I'm a writer. I do it because I love writing. Putting the world around me into words allows me to cope with it.

What are the best TV shows of all time?

Westworld, Black Mirror, Rick & Morty - anything that distorts reality and fucks with my mind.

Name some spots in Jerusalem that are good for a Tinder date.

There's a lovely little Cafe in Mea Shearim.

Who’s your hero and where in Jerusalem would you take them out for a serious hang?

I don't have heroes. I think it's childish to idolize human beings.

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

Mostly second-hand shops around Jerusalem. It's a great way to spend less, recycle clothing and help the environment.

What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?

Kikar HaChatulot.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

Walk around without a bra.

Is there a hidden bar / hole in the wall in Jerusalem that you particularly like?

HaTipa Bar, but keep that between us.

What’s the most expensive restaurant / spa / hotel you’ve ever been to in Jerusalem? How much did it cost and what did you get there?

The Maccabi Health Center on Agrippas Street. I got a wisdom tooth removed, and it only cost me $350.

What restaurant in Jerusalem looks crap, but the food’s amazing?

Chabash, Ethiopian restaurant on Moshiach Borohov Street.

Where can you get the best cocktail in Jerusalem? Which one do you like?

The Gatsby. I have no preference.

Where would you take your partner in Jerusalem if you wanted to really pamper them?

A ma'ayan (spring) outside the city in some rolling Jerusalem hills for a lazy afternoon in the sun.

Which snacks can you only get in your country, and which ones do you recommend?

Kariyot Cereal. It's like a pillow of nougaty chocolate goodness.

What’s the one place you think is overrated in Jerusalem?

The Western Wall.

What’s the one place you think is underrated in Jerusalem?

HaMiffal Art Space.

What are the Jerusalem spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

The Mahane Yehudah Market and the Old City.

Tomorrow’s your last day in Jerusalem. How do you spend it?

Crying my eyes out, but also subconsciously relieved.

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

Amsterdam. I think it's obvious why.
