a bit about Aniqa
What do you do and why do you do it?
I'm currently studying French and English Language in university. I'm really passionate about learning other languages, as they're a gateway to learning about other cultures.
You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?
When I'm heartbroken? I ditch the sad songs and turn up with some female empowering jams: expect a lot of Beyonce and CL!
What are the best TV shows of all time?
Freaks and Geeks, Orange is the New Black, Breaking Bad, How To Get Away With Murder... there's so many more...
Name some spots in London that are good for a Tinder date.
The Rooftop Film Club - instead of a regular old cinema date, you can enjoy a movie whilst overlooking London.
Who’s your hero and where in London would you take them out for a serious hang?
My hero is Malala Yousafzai. I'd take her to the science museum, for sure.
Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?
Oh, these? I shop wherever, I'm not a one brand type of gal. :)
What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?
Any nightclub, pretty much. Too noisy and crowded for me.
What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?
I NEVER get to eat Japanese food, since my best friend doesn't like it.
What’s the most decadent / extreme dish you ever ate in London and where did you get it?
The Bubble Waffles from Nosteagia in Shoreditch. They are to die for.
What’s the most expensive restaurant / spa / hotel you’ve ever been to in London? How much did it cost and what did you get there?
Barrafina on Dean Street. I bought the Tuna Tartar with a chocolate tart for dessert. Altogether, it came to around £20 - not bad considering how high they charge.
What restaurant in London looks crap, but the food’s amazing?
Parkway on Edgeware Road - I was honestly surprised at how good the food was! The service wasn't great though, beware.
Where would you take your partner in London if you wanted to really pamper them?
If I had a partner, I'd take him to one of those supercar driving shows, as long as I get to drive one myself!
Which snacks can you only get in your country, and which ones do you recommend?
McVitie's Digestive biscuits, a classic.
What’s the one place you think is overrated in London?
Possibly the London Eye. The view isn't amazing, and it seems to drag on forever and ever.
What’s the one place you think is underrated in London?
Syon Park. It's truly the best place to take pictures, with all the vibrant colours of the gardens contrasted with the white conservatory structures.
What are the London spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?
Definitely Madame Tussaud's. They switch up most of their waxworks and exhibitions every so often so you can't really get bored if you go every few years.
Tomorrow’s your last day in London. How do you spend it?
I would first visit an arcade, and then I'd hire a karaoke room with a whole bunch of my friends. I'd finish the day with a meal at my favourite restaurant, Bird.
What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?
Toronto! It's so beautiful, and the people are just so friendly.
