a bit about Az
What are you working on these days?
We started a game company with the aim of making games that feel just the same as they did when we were kids… Currently most of my time is taken up by programming and testing our bi-plane game.
What drives you mad these days?
People that get angry at tourists for walking slowly in London or whilst they’re on the tube. Inconsiderate people baffle me.
What makes you happy?
Making new friends and hearing their stories about people I haven’t met.
When was the last time you cried?
A friend told me they were having a baby after trying for a couple of years.
What’s your latest musical obsession?
David Sedaris audiobook Me Talk Pretty One Day; I love him a little bit too much.
What was the last movie you watched? Was it any good?
Batman v superman… I fell asleep. I dropped my popcorn… The couple behind me began kicking my seat when I was snoring too loud 😳
When it’s time for a new wardrobe, where do you go?
I stole this idea from someone: go on a store’s website, find the models that look most like you and buy everything that they were wearing, the theory goes that a stylist was paid to make those decisions, who am I to disagree with them 😂
What’s your go-to café in London?
Any of the ones on my list are amazing places to go depending on where you are.
What’s your favorite street or neighborhood to wander through?
Any road I’ve never been down before. I grew up here; finding out how everything links up always makes me smile.
What’s the thing you LOVE to do in London but never actually do?
I would love to go ice skating, I’ve been like twice in my life, but I struggle to remember a happier feeling than this.
If it’s been raining outside for days and you’re sick of staying in – where would you go?
I would find a quiet cafe and sit in the window with an audiobook or a podcast and people watch until they kicked me out.
What’s that place in London you feel like only you know about?
There’s a bench I go and sit where I need to run away, or calm down, or be alone for a while.
If tomorrow was your last day in London before you left for good, how and where would you spend it?
I would go to a piano bar, hand the pianist the best of Nina Simon, put on some heels and the worlds most sparkly dress and get up on top of it and sing as loudly and as sexily as possible.
What’s the spot in London you wouldn’t be caught dead in?
The tube during the evening rush hour in summer. Its just not worth it.
You’ve just received the best news ever. Where would you go to celebrate and with whom?
I’d go to sit at the bar Original Sin, order a cocktail and start talking to anyone who sat next to me.
What’s the thing you love doing that isn’t work, relationship or family related?
I really love cycling at night through London.
When you feel like a night out, what’s your go-to place and why?
One of the places on my list for a cocktail. Anywhere with an old fashioned on the menu.
