Of course there is lots of music in London! I personally prefer the smaller venues with a more intimate atmosphere. I've seen some unforgettable performances by KRS-One and Souls of Mischief at the Jazz Cafe, so it's much more than just jazz.

This venue is tucked in a little alleyway in Hackney, London’s hipster central, and used to be frequented by ex-military servicemen, it was their ‘Memorable Order of Tin Hats’. The venue has gained popularity thanks to Lady Gaga performing secret gigs here on several occasions. Recently, the back room has been decorated in gold glitter giving a retro feel to the place. The acoustics, the dancing and the intimacy engage the crowd and the atmosphere is out of this world – a true indie experience. Drinks are cheap too, I can’t wait to return.

Bustling pub/restaurant and art gallery, with live music, DJs and a huge waterside terrace. There are quite a few pubs down the canal side in Hackney Wick, all are good. When the weather is okay, nothing nicer than just having a drink and watching the water and canal folk.

In gritty Elephant and Castle, South london. Doesn’t look like anything from the outside, but it is truly an integral part of London’s underground nightlife and a must for those into their house-techno etc. You get a true feel for the south london music scene here.

Semi-pub semi-concert venue in the heart of Brixton. There are performances of every single music genre imaginable and the vibe is super fun. Going there you can discover a new band or group of performers that you’ve never heard before and they will blow you away. Perfect for when you aren't sure what to do and feel like taking a little risk.

A bit off the beaten path, but this is a bit of a gem - very small, intimate venue with live music and delicious wine/nibbles. It's very laid back and chilled. https://www.facebook.com/no14baconst/

The bar is situated on the ground floor of the Rosewood Hotel. The high ceilings, the decor and the atmosphere make it on of my favourite places in London. The drinks are perfectly made by the professional well trained staff. After 9pm everyday there is either live jazz/blues music or a burlesque show. Class and fun mixed to perfection.

Perfect for date night, this cocktail bar is also a jazz bar with a beautiful new orleans type decor. You are guaranteed a fantastic night out here, live music every night with a different theme and very creative and strong cocktail. I am not too much into the fancy cocktail, but they do pretty well with the classics and have a great selection of wine and small bites to keep you entertained and full

Small, intimate live jazz band in the evening, quickly transforms into lively fun club when chairs and tables get pushed aside to make room for ALL the dancing.
