My favorite gourmet burger in LA. You cannot change anything on this burger. You have to order it as is. I'm not a fan of Bleu cheese on a burger. But this place has found a way to make me a fan of Bleu cheese. The cheese Its not over powering and it complements the rest of the burger perfectly. Try it! Plus this place has a great selection of beer. Seating is first come first serve, order your food and drinks at the bar.

When you think of California and burgers, In-N-Out is the place to go. The East Coast has Shake Shack, although now there's some here too. But In-N-Out has been a California institution since 1948. They have a secret menu: Animal Style burger includes extra Thousand Island spread, mustard grilled patties, and extra pickles. Animal Style fries, are topped with cheese, spread, and grilled onions. You can also ask to add chopped chilis which give the burger and fries a nice extra kick. Shakes are good too, you can also ask for a Neapolitan which is all 3 flavors together.

Best brunch in LA, I promise. All you can drink Mimosas that comes in Orange, Peach, Watermelon, Apple, and Guava. Guava is bae. They also have lobster stuffed avocados, pork rib eggs benedict, and my favorite, the ahi tostadas. Plus, it's right by the pier, so if you have one too many mimosas (and you will), bring a towel and hang out on the beach for a few hours. It's perfect for a lazy Sunday.

If you're a burger connoisseur, all signs point to Stout. Don't go to Umami, don't go to In N Out (okay go but just to say you did), Stout is where it's at. If you're into plain burgers then stick with in n out. This place has perfectly constructed burgers where you can remove things if you don't like them (like horseradish aioli) but no, you can't replace it. I always get the truffle shuffle which has brie, truffle aioli and sauteed mushrooms. Plus, a bomb craft beer selection.

Love coming to this place when i'm craving some Argentine food. Friendly staff and great service. My favorite meal starts with a nice glass of malbec, the provoleta and chorizo. For my entree I go with the entraña al ajo. If you plan on driving there's valet or street parking. I'd recommend valet to avoid the headache.

If you're looking to get a little fancy and enjoy some amazing food this is the place to go. My favorites are the filet mignon, the tomahawk steak, lobster mashed potatoes, and sautéed shrimp. They also have the Penthouse upstairs which offers outdoor dining.

Great pastrami sandwich and chili cheese fries. If you're feeling a little crazy you can even add pastrami on top of the chili cheese fries. Warning the portions are large, so I would recommend sharing.

Great place for lunch or a good happy hour cocktail. I don't think you can go wrong with anything to eat on the menu, but you have to try the crab cakes. They are the best i've ever had. Wine selection is great and I would recommend the Beverly Hills Oasis for a cocktail. If you stop by this place you're most likely to catch a celeb or two dining in as well.

Tommy's isn't usually included in the burger wars, usually it's In-N-Out or Shake Shack that's mentioned. But if you want some chili and a heavy delicious burger, give Tommy's a try. Also get the Chili Cheese Fries, I think they're even better than the chili burger. The chili tamale is also a good choice, heavy as a brick, but so good. I can't eat this too often, but every now and then I get a craving for that chili and have to break my diet and get a chili cheeseburger and chili cheese fries, so good!

This place serves one of the best meats i've ever had. View is breathtaking too, which makes this location the best one for me compared to other Mastro's. As a former waiter service is really important to me, and this place gets extra points from me on that department. Price is high so I want to talk to professionals who know what they're selling.

Family-owned and operated (except this one waiter who's the best), this place is my fav. When you walk inside the place it looks like a God Father's scene and I found it pretty romantic too. Steaks are not from Argentina anymore since it's not legal to import it here, but rested fat cows here in the US do the trick just fine, and they sure know where to get the finest stuff. Wine list is excellent too, I recommend a Malbec. Just the way the workers describe the food makes you drool and the food takes you to heaven. My tip is stay away from the bread they give at first but save the Chimichurri that goes with it for the rest of the meal.

This Japanese-American Burger Cafe started in Southern California and has gone all the way across the United States as far as NYC! You'll be hard pressed to find an LA Neighborhood that doesn't have one, but if you're wandering the Art District it's a perfect place to refuel. Whatever you order be sure to ask for the miso-mustard! My faves are the Ahi Tuna Burger, the Soy Buttered Corn, and the Caramelized Brussel Sprouts with truffle oil! Let's not forget a Mexican Coke for a real sugar fix ;P

This place hasn't changed one bit since it opened in 1947, and that's exactly why it's so beloved by generations of Angelenos. Wait for your spot at the U-shaped counter, glance over the short menu, order with the longtime waiters, and dive in to classic burgers that are no-frills but delicious! This 1940s diner space is as nostalgic as LA gets and I love every minute whenever I pop in.

If you're coming to California and you weren't already planning to go to In-N-Out... like, ANY In-N-Out, you're insane. Best burger in California, best in the US. Affordable. Don't miss it!! Even if you don't make it to this one, the original, be sure to search for the nearest one in your phone and go. It's as Californian as it gets.

It's a bit far north-east if you're coming from downtown, but if you've got the time, The Oinkster is worth it. It's greasy, it's huge. Guy Fieri (the food dude with the bleached tips) ate there and is a fan. Plus, they've got a great selection of local microbrews. Get that pastrami burger and let all of your worries disappear.
