9am to 5pm every Sunday at the high school on the corner of Melrose and Fairfax, there's a giant outdoor flea market that sells everything from jewelry and clothing, to movie posters, plants, furniture, and art work. It's $3 cash to get in, and there's an ATM located outside the high school and inside the flea market for your convenience. Buy some $5 sunglasses or haggle over chokers or side tables. Shop old film cameras and lenses for cheap. Find some succulents or air plants for your apartment garden. Everything you never knew you needed lives here. It's most definitely worth checking out!

This beautiful former model owned fashion brand make killer clothes that don’t kill the environment. They aspire that their garments’ impact on the planet would be as low as possible. They believe there’s nothing less sexy than leaving a big nasty mess. They have new lines monthly, but clothes are not too trendy and feel like you can wear them for ever. They have an amazing vintage repaired collection sold in their shop on Melrose ave.

If you need more retail therapy after Otherwild, pop on over to next door neighboor Belljar ran by the gorgeous Sasha Darling. LA outpost of the now defunct San Francisco boutique. The stores double tag line says it all -"Gorgeous little things / good vibes always." It's like your own corner of Topanga Canyon On the east side of LA.. My personal favorite is the front of the store: giant Palo Santo logs, the Catherine Rising smudge sticks with white sage intertwined with wildflowers, and the beautiful works from Mt. Washington Pottery, especially the oversized windchimes. Don't forget the curated vintage upstairs!

Shop at…. Wasteland (upscale, trendy amazing selection of new and used clothing), American Vintage (wonderful for finding a costume or themed outfit, second hand), Cosmo and Nathalia (Lady Gaga-esque costumes, play dress up), Slow Clothing (revamped second-hand + costumes), Fred Segal (LA staple, a small department store), Urban Outfitters, and if you’re there on a Sunday, go to the Melrose Trading Post on Fairfax & Melrose ($3 cash admission) for the best finds (clothes, furniture, decor, etc). Pay a visit to the famous pink wall at Paul Smith.

Tried and True has clothes that are well, tried and true. Haha. Sorry, but for real. They sell quality curated vintage shirts, jackets, and hats. The place is small, but the selection is great. You'll want to spend time looking at each item one by one to find the perfect vintage gem.

Fashion vet, Elyse Walker, opened her store back in 1999 and since that time it has grown to its current block size in Pacific Palisades. With a uniquely Californian perspective, Walker was one of the original stylists to combine high and low designers, vintage and contemporary looks and to seemlessly blend denim and t-shirts with high end fashion. Her vision was the personal closet of our dreams, and it even includes in-house stylists to help you pull your looks together and inspire you to "make everyday a runway."

In 1984, its owner Mark Werts, loaded a shipping container full of vintage from Europe and brought it to LA to start what has become this mainstay in LA shopping culture. Continuously expanding since it's early vintage days, American Rag has become a one-stop shop for clothing, shoes, accessories, vintage, denim (they have a denim bar!) and now even home decor. Sometimes boutiques can give you the best education on what a city is all about and American Rag is a great teacher for LA.
