This place might be hard to find, but if you find Cafe Birdie they should be able to direct you to the right place. It's basically tucked away behind Cafe Birdie. Cool lounge vibe for great conversation. Delicious cocktails. Try the Magic City.

This bar is situated right next to the Hotel Carmel. It's small cozy and very intimate. Plus the drinks are good! It may be a bit on the pricier side but its worth it if you want to have a dink in a non-zoo area of Santa Monica.

originally built in 1915. This bar was an original speakeasy back during the days of prohibition. Now it's just a regular bar with a basement you can drink in! Come here for cheap drinks and dark dance floors lit with red and orange lights. Also, check the schedule to see whats going on. Sometimes its a DJ or a band, and sometimes its burlesque.

Great place to let loose on a Saturday night. Live music and casual vibe make it a great place to meet new people or mob in with a group of friends.

Mama Shelter is a great rooftop bar in Hollywood with a great view of the Hollywood sign. Great for drinking day or night. Just be sure to go early at night, because they cut off entry to the roof after it's at capacity, and instead of a line they have a written wait list that fills up.

Handcrafted cocktails & over 100 whiskeys in a saloon-style setting, plus a lively happy hour. The Thirsty Crow is the perfect neighborhood watering hole. They make their own mixes, shrubs, house infused liqueurs, and fresh squeezed juices. They leave nothing to chance and you have to respect a place like that. It's also a very small location and also dimly lit, but cocktails are where your attention should be anyway.

Down the street from the outside of Paddy's Pub in It's Always Sunny, this bar has a great vibe, great cocktails, and great music. What else could you want? It's super artsy with vintage decor. There is a mezzanine level but it's always rented out, so you're lucky if you get to check that part out. It's also mostly outdoor seating with heat lamps. OH and they have food, but to be honest I've never had it. But the menu looks bomb!

I stumbled upon this place while I was looking for cool spots around my neighborhood. Clearly a bar named after a book piqued my interest. Plus they have a cocktail called "Tequila Mockingbird" and my punny heart grew three sizes. Not only does this place have GREAT cocktails (No lie, I'm sitting inside as we speak) they also have a pretty awesome food menu, and table top games. Last time I was here I challenged my boyfriend to Scrabble and kicked his posterior. To be honest, most bars in the Toluca Lake area are awesome because LA hasn't ventured into the valley that far yet. ;)

Off-the-beaten-path cocktail bar with post-industrial design elements and a spacious outdoor patio. Definitely one of my favorite bars on the Westside.

Hidden speakeasy bar in Culver City. Walk through the barber shop to find an expansive bar with great cocktails, music, and dancing. Pretty solid party spot.

Great wine bar with excellent food and a charming outdoor patio. People watching is fantastic! Word is you can see celebrities here from time to time. For visitors, keep in mind the unwritten rule that Angelenos don't bother celebrities.

The Other Door is a speakeasy that looks like a shut-down newsstand amid a particularly deserted commercial area of North Hollywood. Enter through the magazine rack and order one of their cheap, creative cocktails made with absinthe or their house-infused whiskey. Depending on the night there may be standup comedy, burlesque, or live music in the backroom. There's no food, although sometimes someone will set up a bootleg grilled cheese stove in the back (cash only), but it's a fun, friendly dive bar with great drinks!
