Wanderlust is a yoga studio with an adorable cafe inside. They serve amazing coffee, breakfast, and lunch. Even if you're not looking to take a yoga class I'd recommend stopping by for a bite to eat or a smoothie and enjoying the perfect LA weather from their large outdoor patio!

Solid breakfast food! Portions are not excessive but serve as a good start to your day. Grab a breakfast sandwich and share some pancakes with your friends. Seating is first come first serve.

A tiny Dodgers-themed coffee shop on Fairfax, this is a good place to stop before going to the Melrose Trading Post or heading out for a day in West Hollywood. The coffee is great but the real standout here is the huge breakfast burritos. I still can't decide if the chorizo or veggie is my favorite but either way make sure to add avocado and you'll be good to go until lunchtime. There can be a 10-15 minute wait on the weekends sometimes so call ahead if you don't have time to stand around.

Civil Coffee might be one of the most beautiful shops I've ever been to. In gentrified Highland Park, Civil is perfectly in the center of old-school shop and newly renovated spaces. It definitely gives you the feeling that you're in LA, without having to hit too many freeways to get there. Inside, incredibly beautiful granite slabs make up the decor behind the bar, while vintage green and white tiling lines the floors. Civil generally alternates between top-notch beans from Portland's Coava and Heart Coffee Roasters. One note of caution- they don't have wifi! Come with conversations, not laptops.

Located in the heart of the NoHo Arts District, this is a really great local coffee shop, with pastries, paninis, and grab and go eats with an art mural that changes frequently by local artists around town.

A grounded spot for an organic coffee fix in the Downtown L.A. Arts District. Inside the brick coffeehouse is a roomy area to stretch out to drink, have a bite and laptop out to do some web surfing, studying or writing. Espresso, latte, andallthe other coffee standards are good and organic. For tea lovers, there is plenty of variety- much more than what Starbucks could ever offer. From jasmine green to black assam tea and from herbal chamomile to rare pai mu tan, tea is really a signature delight. Food menu, including breakfast burritos available too.

Mr. Holmes Bakehouse is new to LA and was originally from San Francisco, where people would wait in lines for hours to try the legendary cruffin. It's worth it. In Highland Park (a few blocks from the excellent Civil Coffee), Mr. Holmes is bringing fresh pastries and sweet atmosphere to an already rad up and coming area. Don't miss out on them pastries. They also serve stumptown coffee if you wanna combine your breakfast-coffee fix!
