a bit about Tania

What do you do and why do you do it?

I'm an interior designer because I love art and design in general and I believe interior design is an amazing way to bring these two disciplines together.

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so effing bad?

I don't think I've ever had a bad job, lucky me.

Were you born and raised in Mexico City? If not, where did you grow up and what brought you to Mexico City?

I was born and raised in this huge city.

What’s your current hood in Mexico City and what’s the best/worst thing about it?

My current hood is the suburb of Interlomas. The good thing is that everything you need to survive can be found here. However is not exactly the hip area of the city, it's far from the city center and there's not much nightlife going on.

What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?

I listen to french house on my own time and love reggeton and mainstream while partying. Hate dub and repetitive stuff.

You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?

James Blunt maybe....

Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?

Sex and the City, my all time favorite. I can watch it over and over and never get bored. Orange is the New Black is also amazing.

Name some spots in Mexico City that are good for a Tinder date.

Condesa, Roma, Polanco and Centro Historico are awesome and central locations with lots to do.

Which public figure would you want to see “roasted”? (every public figure is fair game).

Donald Trump, for sure.

Who’s your hero and where in Mexico City would you take them out for a serious hang?

These days I would say my hero is Peter Marion (boutique interior designer) I would take him to this cute place in Polanco called Cafe Budapest.

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

Everywhere I go, if I see a unique piece of design that's not too pricey I'm very likely to buy it (mostly jackets and shoes). Otherwise I'm pretty basic, white and black tops from Zara or H&M will do.

What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?

Ajusco... I think.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

Walk, walk and walk around the hip areas like Condesa or La Roma.

Where do you go in Mexico City for a casual night out?

Hookah bar Santa Fe.

Where would you go in Mexico City to celebrate some freaking good news?

Bar hop in Condesa and La Roma.

What’s your choice of transportation in Mexico City and why?

My own car or Uber. Public transportation in Mexico City is not very safe, the subway can get extremely crowded and it doesn't reach the suburbs. Regular taxis can be good as long as they belong to a private company (sitio), never trust street cabs! Sadly transportation in Mexico City is third world country like so for these reasons I drive myself or use Uber.

What are the Mexico City spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

Centro Historico (Downtown Mexico City) the most important sites are found within this area.

What are the Mexico City spots tourists should run from screaming?

Unsafe areas like Tepito, La Doctores and La Obrera. Basically if you find yourself somewhere sketchy or feel unsafe RUN!

Tomorrow’s your last day in Mexico City. How do you spend it?

Eating tacos, chilaquiles and pan dulce in the most delicious and cute cafes around the city.

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

Tel Aviv during summer time because I know the city pretty well so that makes it very enjoyable. I love the food, the fact that you can walk everywhere (thing that would never happen in Mexico City), the beach is amazing and I could never get bored there.
