a bit about Violeta

What do you do and why do you do it?

I am a photographer, I love capturing moments and creating awesome memories. My favorite things to photograph are people, so I usually bring my camera when I go out.

Were you born and raised in Mexico City?

Born and raised in Mexico City, I’ve lived here almost all of my life, but I went to study Visual Journalism in California.

What’s your current hood in Mexico City and what’s the best/worst thing about it?

I live in Interlomas, the worst thing is the traffic (although that can be said about every hood in Mexico City haha) also the lack of parks in the zone, the best is you have lots of restaurants and movie theatres, and you are not far from other cool places in the city.

What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?

I have to say I love music, I listen to everything from rock, pop, banda (fun Mexican haha), country, reggaeton (yep one of those, but don’t judge until you listen to Despacito!), DJ, uffff everything and I love going to concerts. Also music in every language!

You’re broken hearted – what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?

I have a playlist named “Un corazón herido” which makes reference to a song by a Mexican artist Yuri, mostly songs in Spanish, like Gloria Trevi. And it starts all sad but it builds towards strong songs.

Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?

It didn’t say I only have to choose one, so here go my list of absolute favorites: Charmed, what’s not to love? magic, fun and handsome dudes! Sex in the City, I don’t think I have to explain this, hahaha. And Seinfeld, because who doesn’t love to laugh?

Name some spots in Mexico City that are good for a Tinder date.

I think anywhere in la Condesa or la Roma.

Which public figure would you want to see “roasted”?

Robert Downey Jr. definitely!

Who’s your hero and where in Mexico City would you take them out for a serious hang?

Optimus Prime! And I would take him to Teotihuacan.

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

I love clothes from Guess!

What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?

In a Luis Miguel concert! Never! (although never say never?)

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so effing bad?

I started working at a movie festival choosing the movies to show, but they wouldn’t let me do my job and I had 2 bosses and each would tell me a different thing, needless to say I did not last long.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

Lay on the grass and read a book!!!

Where do you go in Mexico City for a casual night out?

Depends on the crowd but Chuchito Perez, Gin Gin or try a new one!

Where would you go in Mexico City to celebrate some freaking good news?

Bar hoping in la Condesa.

What’s your choice of transportation in Mexico City and why?

Car, because the subway is not near my house and it doesn’t get to where I work.

What are the Mexico City spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

Castillo de Chapultepec is just beautiful! La Casa Azul de Frida and Diego and el Palacio de Bellas Artes!

Tomorrow’s your last day in Mexico City. How do you spend it?

Eating as much food as I can manage, nothing beats Mexican breakfast!!! Chilaquiles, molletes, sopes, quesadillas, oh myyyyyy I love the food.

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

This one is a tough one but if I can't go to a new one, my favorite cities are Mexico City (I know I am biased but it is an amazing one with never-ending fun!), Tel Aviv (food and fun) and Miami (just go relaxing and shopping!).
