What do you do and why do you do it?

I'm an attorney at a statewide nonprofit that protects the rights of Tennesseans with disabilities. A lot of my work is on behalf of individuals who are incarcerated. I have a deep commitment to social justice and my work is a huge part of my life.

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so effing bad?

I worked for a florist over Valentine's Day, Easter, and Mother's Day one spring while I was in college. I processed shipments of flowers and made deliveries. I'll never complain about how much roses cost again!

Were you born and raised in Nashville? If not, where did you grow up and what brought you to Nashville?

I was born in Boston, MA and moved to Florida as a child. I did most of my growing up in Orlando, FL. I moved to Nashville in 2008 to attend law school at Vanderbilt and I loved the city so much I knew I had to stay!

What’s your current hood in Nashville and what’s the best/worst thing about it?

I live in East Nashville, specifically Inglewood. I adore my neighborhood and the sense of community in the 37216. We're a little sleepier than the bustling Five Points area and I like it that way. We have some great gems, like Rudie's and Village Pub and Fond Object Records.

What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?

I have very eclectic tastes but I mostly listen to alternative and hip hop. I don't like modern country music at all, despite living in Nashville. There's a ton of music that isn't country in the city - I can point you in the right direction.

You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?

Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Sleigh Bells - who has time for a broken heart?

Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?

I am a HUGE Game of Thrones fan! I recently got to tour several shooting locations in Northern Ireland, and was even crowned the Queen in the North by my tour group!! My all time favorite show is 30 Rock - I've seen the whole series more times than I'd like to admit.

Name some spots in Nashville that are good for a Tinder date.

Otaku Ramen if you're hungry, Craft Brewed if you're thirsty, Ms. Kelli's if you're nasty ;)

Who’s your hero and where in Nashville would you take them out for a serious hang?

The Notorious R.B.G., and I'd definitely take her to Dino's.

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

Trunk is my favorite local boutique.

What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?

The Pedal Tavern!!

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

Hang out in Centennial Park with a good book. I'm always so busy, it's hard to find the time.

Where do you go in Nashville for a casual night out?

My favorite local brewery, Southern Grist.

Where would you go in Nashville to celebrate some freaking good news?

Little Octopus, Two Ten Jack, or The Oak Bar

What’s your choice of transportation in Nashville and why?

I drive or walk most places - unfortunately our bus system is not the best. Lyfts are plentiful if you don't have your own car while you're in town.

What are the Nashville spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

If you came here to hit the honky tonks on Broadway, you know who you are, and you'll have a great time. Personally, I would recommend any of our great craft breweries like Jackalope or Southern Grist, a film at The Belcourt, bar hopping in Five Points, and the obligatory walk across the pedestrian bridge spanning the Cumberland River.

What are the Nashville spots tourists should run from screaming?

Downtown Broadway is mostly just bachelorette parties as far as the eye can see - so unless that's your scene (you do you!), I would avoid it.

Tomorrow’s your last day in Nashville. How do you spend it?

Brunch at Margot, a film at The Belcourt, browsing books at Parnassus, dinner at City House.

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

Cozumel, Mexico - specifically the far side of the island, which doesn't even have electricity! The people are kind and welcoming, the beach is incredible, and the drinks are strong.
