a bit about Malu

What are you working on these days?

I just finished a shooting for a music video of a friend of mine. And also finishing a long term project for Facebook UK campaign. Also I’m working on the pre-production for a short film that I wrote and I’m directing.

What drives you mad these days?

The possibility of having Trump as a USA president. For obvious reasons.

What makes you happy?

My friends and my work and whenever I watch a very good film.

When was the last time you cried?

Finishing my last book like two weeks ago.

What’s your latest musical obsession?

Cutty Ranks- Actress DJ- Miles Davis.

What was the last movie you watched? Was it any good?

The Lobster and it was insanely good!

When it’s time for a new wardrobe, where do you go?

Online.

What’s your go-to café in New-York City?

Bakeri Brooklyn.

What’s your favorite street or neighborhood to wander through?

During the day Greenpoint or Carrol Gardens at nights love to discover new places in Red Hook.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in New-York City but never actually do?

Going to museums.

Who’s your hero (dead or alive) and where would you take them to show them a good time?

I don’t think of people as heroes, but if I can choose to get a drink with someone that I admire I would go for drinks with John Berger at Sunny’s in Red Hook. I love that bar because it has the vibe of the real New York from the 80’s before the hipster-sickness and all the gentrification.

If it’s been raining outside for days and you’re sick of staying in – where would you go?

I would go to see a concert at Pioneer Works in Red Hook.

What’s that place in New-York City you feel like only you know about?

Hot Wood Arts Center. It has the vibe of a non pretentious place and that area in Red Hook is very special, it feels also far from Brooklyn even though is in the Island too.

If tomorrow was your last day in New-York City before you left for good, how and where would you spend it?

I will start walking around the West Village having a tea. Then I will go to the East Village to get lunch at Miss Lilly’s. I will get back to Brooklyn and buy some records around Greenpoint and then watch the sunset at the Greenpoint best Manhattan’s viewpoint from Brooklyn after that go for a bowling evening with friends at the Gutter in Greenpoint and last but not least get a beer at Trophy Bar in South Williamsburg.

Given the choice, mayor of which neighborhood would you be?

If is to live I would say Carroll Gardens, if is to take a walk I would say Park Slope, if is to get fun I would say South Williamsburg.

What’s the spot in New-York City you wouldn’t be caught dead in?

Upper Manhattan.

You’ve just received the best news ever. Where would you go to celebrate and with whom?

Trophy bar with friends.

What’s the thing you love doing that isn’t work, relationship or family related?

Going to concerts and movies.

When you feel like a night out, what’s your go-to place and why?

Trans Pecos in Queens to dance, because is not mainstream and the line up is always good. Good electronic music I will go to Goodroom, and that would be the first option because is closer to my place.
