a bit about Spencer
What do you do and why do you do it?
I work in a variety of different creative outlets. I am a designer (graphic and events). I DJ and do music supervision. In my free time I make art and do illustration projects. I find the array of different outlets are like my own personal version of NYC’s melting pot culture. It’s the combination of diverse characteristics that make the magic happen.
What TV show is a must watch?
Please Like Me – it’s the best show I’ve seen recently.
What’s the best karaoke song of all times?
Whatever your favorite song is that hasn’t ever been sung by you before. Those are the best and worst moments of karaoke that I love.
Which movie have you watched more than 3 times?
Have you ever cried while reading a book? Which one?
“Dry”, Memoir of Augusten Burroughs.
Are you a planned or a spontaneous shopper? What’s your go-to store in NY?
Both. I can never find what I’m looking for as I don’t keep up with trends….so when I shop spontaneously, it’s all about the unexpected “must have” item. I don’t really have a go to – My shops vary depending on my needs and expenses at the time.
What’s the one place in New York that you’re sure only you truly appreciate?
What’s your dream job?
No job, just automated income and a studio for my creativity. That’s the dream.
What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?
That’s a tie, Tokyo and Barcelona. These 2 places are unlike any place else. Tokyo is so exotic and the best food. Barcelona is beautiful, delicious, and so relaxed. It’s a home away from home.
Where do you go in New York if you have a couple of hours to kill?
Washington Square Park is a lovely way to kill a couple hours and people watch…or just walk around and enjoy the landscape.
What’s the thing you LOVE to do in NY but never actually do?
Go to Central Park.
If you were given a choice, mayor of which neighborhood in New York would you be?
My own neighborhood, Williamsburg.
What’s the place in New-York City you’ll never be caught dead in?
I try not to frequent chains, Starbucks and all these chains that are here just kill the character of the city. There are so many privately owned businesses that produce a way better quality of product and experience.
Where do you and your drinking buddies meet for a casual night out in New York?
Usually just a local bar in the neighborhood, there are several good ones. In mine, Lady Jay’s, Metropolitan, or Post No Bills.
Where would you go in New York to celebrate the best news EVER!?
Lucien. It’s another gem of the East Village. Great french food, lively crowd and perfect.
It’s a Saturday night and the mood is right – where do you go in NYC to party?
This is always the question I’m trying to answer. So many options.
It’s your last day in New York – how do you spend your time?
Walking around and soaking it in. The city itself is so entertaining and always changing. There’s always something to see on every block.
What’s the one place a first-time visitor in New-York City can’t miss?
Washington Square Park.
