a bit about Vanessa

What are you working on these days?

We are renovating the ceiling of our Studio in Ivry to make it more comfy and clear and i’m working on portrait project called “in between”.

What drives you mad these days?

Cruelty and Stupidity.

What makes you happy?

What makes me the most happiest person on earth is sharing moment, diner, thing, experimentation, life either with people you love and the one you don’t know yet, basically things that connect people together.

When was the last time you cried?

Videos from PETA make me sad; those highlighting animals mistreatment (vivisection, intensive farming,…) make me cry.

What’s your latest musical obsession?

Walking on the Canal Saint Martin No Harm is Done by Christine and the queens. Going up to La Pavillion, a 'Twin Peaks' themed cafe

What was the last movie you watched? Was it any good?

I’m always 2-3 years late in term of movies! To give you an example, I have never seen Pulp Fiction, none of Star Wars or Mission Impossible! My friends don’t get how I can miss out on these movies. The last movie I’ve seen is “Still Alice” with Julian Moore, not the best movie of my life but still, I’m a big fan of Julianne Moore.

When it’s time for a new wardrobe, where do you go?

There’s no month without a look at the ASOS website. I’m mostly shopping online but when I’m in a mood for a crowded shop mood I like to go for a trip from Les Halles: Starting at Hema, where I buy lot of thing I don’t even need though H&M, Zara, on rue Rivoli and AA, Cos in Le Marais where I finish my journey!

What’s your go-to café in Paris?

I have several different spot depending on the area. I really like “Café Creme” it’s super central and it’s 10 min walk from my place. I really appreciate the mood of “Paper boy” rue Amelot and their Chai Latte … If it’s for lunch I’ll suggest chez JAJA rue sainte croix de la bretonnerie.

What’s your favorite street or neighborhood to wander through?

I remember the first time i’ve been walking through Rue Montorgueil, it’s smell a bit of everything overthere, flower, cheese, coffee, you find all you need and all seem so good. It looks like a village in the middle of Paris.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in Paris but never actually do?

I love going to the market but while I do it when I’m travelling, I never take the time to go to market when I’m in Paris. It is something I do often on holiday but not when I’m in my hometown.

Who’s your hero (dead or alive) and where would you take them to show them a good time?

I don’t think I have a Hero but if I have to choose one I’ll say Mr Sam Braun, I meet him while talking about Forgiveness in my philosophy class when I was 17. Actually I reconsidering the question and there is no hero to me, and this is what Mr Braun were teaching us so I’ll pick anybody as an hero. If it s a traveller I’ll take him at “La cave à Jojo” in Montmartre, everything is so french here!

If it’s been raining outside for days and you’re sick of staying in – where would you go?

I would go to Palais de Tokyo

What’s that place in Paris you feel like only you know about?

There is in Rue des Barres a café “l’Ebouillanté “, it’s a very special place, it reminded me my summer holiday in Brittany, les maisons sont anciennes, la rue pavée et la vitrine est bleue…nice people, nice cocktail, and nice spot

If tomorrow was your last day in Paris before you left for good, how and where would you spend it?

I would go for a huge walk though the place i loved the most in Paris from north west to south east, and stop at each place i use to love to eat, drink, shop, the bridge i liked to cross, the book store i use to stay for hours just to get a last smell of it

Given the choice, mayor of which neighborhood would you be?

I would stay in the 11th, as it’s the perfect area for me to do everything… but I’ll have to move as i’m buying an apartment and i can’t afford the 11th price at all!

You’ve just received the best news ever. Where would you go to celebrate and with whom?

I would go to Oenosteria at Odeon if i want calm and cosy ambiance, the place is beautiful, bartender great and they have the best Italian food and wine i tried in Paris, it would definitely be a good choice. If i want more music and noisy people i would go to Demory, I never been disappointed there and they serve one of my favorite beer called l’atomique where you can’t find anywhere else…Comptoir General would be a good option too : it s the perfect place where you can eat, drink and dance at the same time!

What’s the thing you love doing that isn’t work, relationship or family related?

I usually travel without planning that much my trip, and I go with the flow of places, feelings and meetings. It’s the best booster I know. That helps me to clear my mind, escape from a routine and pull me out from consumer society. Whether I travel to discover another country or I go to an eco village, this helps me to change my point of view and open myself to new perspectives. That was a great help to change my consumption habits.

When you feel like a night out, what’s your go-to place and why?

when i want to spend all night out I usually start at Mansard to have a drink, head then at Sans Soucis and finish at Le Carmen or Bus Palladium. I like the 18th for hanging out everything seem open 24/24, people live over threre like there is no night time.
