a bit about Molly
What do you do and why do you do it?
I'm currently a student, majoring in paleopathology and bioarchaeology, and working as a field archaeology technician on the side. I love anthropology and archaeology, which began as a young obsession with Indiana Jones and progressed to a potential career.
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so effing bad?
Though I actually didn't find it bad, I worked in a museum while attending UC Berkeley where my job was to help preserve dead animals so future biologists could look at them- the only awful part was the smell.
Were you born and raised in San Francisco? If not, where did you grow up and what brought you to San Francisco?
I grew up in Lafayette, only a few miles inland, and moved closer to attend UC Berkeley.
What’s your current hood in San Francisco and what’s the best/worst thing about it?
I'm currently in Berkeley, which is much calmer than San Francisco (you can still drive a bit during rush hour!) but just as close to everything that makes the bay cool.
What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?
I like country music! I don't hate anything, but I don't particularly like death metal.
You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?
Creedence Clearwater Revival and Zac Brown Band.
Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?
Rick and Morty; humor is on-point and its always so artistic and creative.
Name some spots in San Francisco that are good for a Tinder date.
Anything with local beer on tap- Chestnut St in the Marina District has great spots, like the Tipsy Pig.
Who’s your hero and where in San Francisco would you take them out for a serious hang?
All I want to do in life is drink a few beers with Harrison Ford.
Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?
Thrift shops in the Castro! Unbeatable for pricing. More expensive would be the Westfield, which has a BART station (transport, like the NY subway) connected to it!
What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?
Avoid the tenderloin at night.
What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?
California Academy of Sciences! It's an all-day thing and a little expensive but worth it.
Where do you go in San Francisco for a casual night out?
The Saloon, one of the oldest bars.
Where would you go in San Francisco to celebrate some freaking good news?
The Buena Vista, with my dad, and drink some good Irish coffee!
What’s your choice of transportation in San Francisco and why?
BART or Uber. Not worth taking a car in due to rush-hour traffic and few parking spots.
What are the San Francisco spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?
The Golden Gate, the Ferry Building, and Chinatown!
What are the San Francisco spots tourists should run from screaming?
Fisherman's Wharf is fine, but gets very touristy.
Tomorrow’s your last day in San Francisco. How do you spend it?
Irish coffee at the Buena Vista, go to California Academy of Sciences, finish with a Boudin sourdough clam chowder bowl.
What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?
I like tiny cities and big beaches! Costa Brava, north of Barcelona, and Formentera, off the south coast of Ibiza top my list.
