Were you born and raised in Sao Paulo? If not, where did you grow up and what brought you to Sao Paulo?
I was born a block from Paulista Av on a Friday Afternoon, right before a big holiday. Imagine how bad traffic was that day!
What’s your current hood in Sao Paulo and what’s the best/worst thing about it?
I'm living downtown and the coolest places in town are walking distace from me. Great bars, restaurants and clubs. I don't consider it dangerous but it can get ugly so you better watch your back.
What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?
Love Jazz, Soul, R&B, Rap and old-school Rock. Mostly I hate "Sertanejo", the brazilian style Country Music. But sometimes we all get too drunk and end up listening to this gluey thing all night. It sticks to your brain for a whole week, watch out and beware!
You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?
Al Green - So Tired of Being Alone
Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?
I love a TV Show from the 90's named "Action"(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206467/), with Jay Mohr. It was about Hollywood, the Entertainment Industry and had some seriously dark jokes. They never made it to a second season but it was awesome!
Name some spots in Sao Paulo that are good for a Tinder date.
On the Cafe side, I'd recommend Suplicy Cafes at Lorena or Santo Grão at Oscar Freire. A fantastic Cocktail Bar at a Hotel Lobby is never a bad idea as well and therefore you should consider Frank at Maksoud Plaza Hotel.
Which public figure would you want to see “roasted”? (every public figure is fair game).
Who’s your hero and where in Sao Paulo would you take them out for a serious hang?
Huge fan of Obama and would take him for a nice Samba in Vila Madalena. I'm sure he would kill it with his dance moves! Cachaça all night!
Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?
I love to buy brazilian brands such as Havaianas, Osklen and Reserva but also keep searching for cool different stuff when I'm traveling.
What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?
Moema! An average neighborhood with nothing fun and no personality. Too clean, too organized, too boring.
What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?
Love to ride my longboard down Paulista Av on Sundays when they close it to cars but almost never make it.
Where would you go in Sao Paulo to celebrate some freaking good news?
Out to Paulista Av, where we celebrate, we cry, we protest and we party. Always Paulista!
What’s your choice of transportation in Sao Paulo and why?
Love the Subway system but it won't get you very far since there are not too many stations and very few lines. We have a an Uber of our very own, 99 Taxis is a great app in Sao Paulo. In the last years hundreds of Kms of bike lanes were introduced in the city and our bike share system is pretty cool. If you're feeling adventurous try riding a scooter. The adventure of a lifetime but also the fastest way to get around the city traffic.
What are the Sao Paulo spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?
downtown Sao Paulo is very cool and worth checking. Go to one of our many museums such as MASP, Pinacoteca or MAM. Have a Pastel in one of our many Farmers Market.
What are the Sao Paulo spots tourists should run from screaming?
Beware the tourist traps in our famous Churrascarias. It can be too expensive for what you get but the meat frenzy sure will look good on your instagram.
Tomorrow’s your last day in Sao Paulo. How do you spend it?
I'd start with a Misto Quente (our grilled cheese with ham) with freshly squeezed orange juice in any Padaria. Walk around downtown. Have one of the rices at Bar da Dona Onça with a Caipirinha and spend the afternoon people watching at a Jardins Cafe.
What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?
I'm such an Urban person so any big city is a temple for me. Hong Kong, Ho-Chi-Minh, Singapore, Tokyo, LA, NY. As long as there's traffic and noise I'll be fine!
