a bit about Miroslava

What do you do and why do you do it?

Business analyst because I like cracking my head sometimes.

What’s the worst job you’ve ever had and why was it so effing bad?

Sales assistant in the call centre - I stayed one day. I just hated convincing people to buy things they do not really want or need.

Were you born and raised in Singapore? If not, where did you grow up and what brought you to Singapore?

No, I was raised in Slovakia. I always wanted to travel and Singapore looked like a good gateway to Asia and it really is!

What’s your current hood in Singapore and what’s the best/worst thing about it?

It's River Valley. I am staying near Singapore river on Jervois road. I love the downtown proximity and the river. It's breezy there during evenings, which allows me to go for a run or just chill on its banks listening to frogs opera. They are playing every evening for free! :)

What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?

I like electronic music in general, post-rock and sometimes folk music when I get moody. But mainstream electronic music is the worst kind I know.

You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?

I used to listen to Marina and The Diamonds' first album when this happened last time... And also some good post-rock always helped.

Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?

I think this must be Frasier. I really love the brothers' weaknesses and all characters are so unique and good played.

Name some spots in Singapore that are good for a Tinder date.

Dempsey hill, Tiong Bahru, Botanic Gardens, Keppel Island, Pulau Ubin, Chinese gardens - all those places are here waiting to amaze your significant others.

Which public figure would you want to see “roasted”? (every public figure is fair game).

Trump - that guy should have never ended up as US president.

Who’s your hero and where in Singapore would you take them out for a serious hang?

Lena Dunham would be my hero, she is giving zero f*cks about society's standards for how women should behave or look.

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

My old love is Stradivarius, but here in Singapore I like shopping in Tangs mall. Most of Singaporean designers are selling their collections there.

What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?

It must be Orchard road during the weekends, that is pure hell. Too many people driven by the true shopping passion- one of the official Singaporean hobbies.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

I would like to have a brunch on the Jen Hotel's rooftop pool and dance there until they will run out of the mimosa drink.

Where do you go in Singapore for a casual night out?

Emilie Hill - Kult kafe. I feel serious love to this spot. It is placed in the villa with a large garden where you can have a drink with friends or play some of the games they have for free- billiard or even basketball. During weekends they have events even for families :)

Where would you go in Singapore to celebrate some freaking good news?

I will go to China Town. First I would have a fancy dinner in Burnt Ends and then I would continue celebrating with dance and some boose in Kilo.

What’s your choice of transportation in Singapore and why?

Public transport for commuting to work, because its so cheap and convenient. Bike to go anywhere else - it's the best way to move around this tiny island when you have some spare time.

What are the Singapore spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

Marina Bay, China town and Singapore Gardens!

What are the Singapore spots tourists should run from screaming?

All Singaporean parks and reservoirs bring you back to the lush arms of mother nature. My favorite is the MacRitchie reservoir with kilometer long paths and nasty monkeys waiting for their chance to steal some food from you.

Tomorrow’s your last day in Singapore. How do you spend it?

I will take my bike and ride to Kranji where farms still survive. Lunch at Bollywood Veggies and then on the way back, I would pay a visit to Chinese gardens to see their picturesque architecture again.

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

Rome, because you can still feel ancient gods in that city.
