a bit about Olivia

What do you do and why do you do it?

I work as Marketing & PR Manager for a restaurant called Tak in central Stockholm. Why I do it? Cause I can't imagine myself doing anything else, as I live for food, people, wine and culture. Of course it's a perk that I'm always being served incredible meals but I did not mention that wish when I was recruited....;)

Were you born and raised in Stockholm? If not, where did you grow up and what brought you to Stockholm?

I grew up in this little town called Varberg, located down the west coast (about one hour from Gothenburg ). The great combination of love and internship brought me to Stockholm. The relationship didn't last but my love for this city never called it quits.

What’s your current hood in Stockholm and what’s the best/worst thing about it?

I live down at Norr Mälarstrand in Kungsholmen and have lived in this hood more or less all of my years here. The best part is that I feel care-free and safe here, I know every street, every store, and the silence, oh the silence here is really the best thing. The worst thing? the silence, and it would big a big plus for me with more cool restaurants.

What kind of music do you listen to and what kind of music do you absolutely HATE?

Catchy soul, old pop and movie soundtracks, deep house and..ahh, no, listen to this instead! A various mix everything:

You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?

Just give me all Alicia Keys & Joni Mitchell. If I'm angry (and isn't that really the worst kind of heartbreak?) I can't even listen to music, my head needs to rest.

Name the best TV shows of all time, and what makes them so good?

Sopranos - Cause it's Sopranos. House of Cards - every episode is 10/10. Friends - I have seen it like 5 times all around. Chefs Table - Combining passion with Netflix & Chill is the best idea ever. Gossip Girl - Cried like a baby when Chuck & Blair finally got together!

Name some spots in Stockholm that are good for a Tinder date.

Our rooftop terrace on a sunny day! During winter I would probably take my date to Tyge & Sessil, an amazing winebar located at Östermalm. I'm not really into having coffee on a date but if this was the deal I would take him to Pascal in Vasastan. One thing I would not do is take him to the movies, or a walk.

Who’s your hero and where in Stockholm would you take them out for a serious hang?

My dad! The coolest, kindest and most supportive person I have in my life. Daah, of course I'd take him to Tak for a serious time out, but if not we do a classic lunch at Tennstopet since that's his favorite.

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

Actually, I hate buying clothes, more of a shoe / lipstick / earrings kinda gal. I buy all of my grey t-shirts ( I have many ) at Bread & Boxers, & Other Stories, or Dagmar. My shirts at Ralph Lauren or H&M. If I need a serious make-over I just head over to my favorite store Plagg and they figure something out for me. Lipstick from the Clarins counter at NK and my many earrings I buy at Antikt Gammalt & Nytt or Wos Store. I'm obssesed with smelling good and the most up-beat fragrances you will find at Cow Parfymeri.

What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?

In Kungsträdgården. I just can't stand that area. If I don't need to pass it then I simply don't.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

Picnic! But somehow I never do it! Stockholm is an amazingly green city with big parks like Rålis or smaller gems like the garden around City Hall. if you are not in the mood for food, head to amazing Gelateria Italiana at Fridhemsplan, their gelato is 100% homemade and yummie! And withing walking distance to both of them :)

Where do you go in Stockholm for a casual night out?

Always start with food: I really like Teatern , a food hall located in Skanstull, great food and great prices - my favorites here would be the pizza from Galina or Raamen from famous duo Adam & Albin, and then I head to Trädgården! And if the season is not up to that then I'm stuck at Linje 10 / Tjoget in Hornstull all night. Me and my best friend have this thing for our hood and I can highly recommend the atmosphere at Restaurant AG. If not in the mood to spend a lot of money there is this fun, quirky spanish bar at Hantverkargatan called Olé Olé, their sangria is really good ( and strong )

Where would you go in Stockholm to celebrate some freaking good news?

I can not only choose one here, my top picks would def be Mathias Dahlgren Matbaren, Lilla Ego or Sturehof. All comes with great food, great wines and their own very special atmosphere. Afterwards I treat myself with some champagne at the newly opened wine bar Blanche & Hierta, located inside Hotel At Six.

What’s your choice of transportation in Stockholm and why?

Walking or Taxi. Walking because of the beauty this town has to offer, and it's easy to walk just about everywhere. Taxi is convenient and I can be a lazy person sometimes, mostly when wearing high heels. And, the new thing in Stockholm - Bzzt Podtaxi, it's so freaking funny and cheap!

What are the Stockholm spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

It's cheesy but Djurgården really is something something on a warm spring or summer day: nature in the middle of the city, plenty of good restaurants like Oaxen Krog & Slip and both kids and grown-ups enjoy this little "island" I also think Fjäderholmarna should be on that list, archipelago just 20 minutes outside city. Go there, enjoy the sun and don't miss Rökeriet and their famous smoked shrimps. Since I live down at Norr Mälarstrand I need to recommend it, play some boule and have some beer at Boulebar.

What are the Stockholm spots tourists should run from screaming?

Kungsträdgården, haha.

Tomorrow’s your last day in Stockholm. How do you spend it?

With friends, while crying! I would force them to my second livingroom spot Sorelle and have one to many cappucinos, take a stroll around Kungsholmen, have lunch at my friends place Panic Supper (the tofubowl is unreal) and after that I would probably visit my hairdresser Elin (best in town) at Daisy Grace. Since it's my last day here and it would be a shame if not festive I'll have dinner at Farang, ending the night with champagne at Babette and hug my colleagues goodbye over some yuzu sake on our rooftop.

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

New York, I have been there so many times so it feels very homey, not only can I get enough of the food-scenery, I also love the energy, the way you network easy and the happy go lucky mentality, the feeling that everything is possible. If I need some sun I go to Palma or the French Riviera, both amazing in their own ways.
