a bit about Leon

What are you working on?

My 2 new hotels openings, the Brown Jerusalem and the Poli House in TLV.

What drives you mad these days?

The impotence of our leadership, here in Israel.

What makes you happy?

The weather and the nature of the people, here in TLV.

When was the last time you cried?

Last weekend, watching a Walt Disney movie with my 6-year-old.

What is playing in your earphones nowadays?

Oh, anything from Bruno Mars to Motown to Miriam Makeba.

What was the last movie you went to?

No time for real cinema, lately. Late night House of Cards is the best I can hope for…

When it’s time for a new wardrobe, where do you go?

Last week, in Amsterdam. Only when I’m abroad, between meetings.

What’s a place in town you feel like only you know about?

Don’t know, really, TLV is tiny and exposed. But I’m not sure everybody feels so deeply about the view from the tip of Independence Park, overlooking the Mediterranean. Stunning.

It’s raining for days and you’re sick of staying at home – where would you go?

Under my blanket, with the trees penetrating my bedroom (TLV is much greener than the general perception) – that’s my refuge!

Where’s your favourite street or neighbourhood to wander in?

Neve Tzedek & the Yemenite Quarter, of course.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city but never actually do?

A city vacation at a nice boutique hotel, of course 🙂

Who’s your hero and where would you take them out to eat or drink in your city?

I’d take both Ben-Gurion and Albert Einstein to Eyal Shani’s new restaurant, Romano.

What would make a perfect day in the sun for you?

Just chilling at Gordon Beach, then a walk to Manta Ray, then back home through Ben Gurion Blvd for some live entertainment, then a siesta, wake up and go out to the Peacock or any other bar with friends.

What’s your go-to café?

The Brasserie

If you were given a choice, mayor of which neighborhood would you be?

I wish I could say Rothschild/Neve Tzedek but I’m not that hip anymore (was I ever?). So I’d say the “Old North” or Ben Gurion Blvd…

What’s the place in town you’ll never be caught dead in?

Tel Baruch, Eizorei Chen, Ramat Aviv Ha-hadasha…

You’ve just got the best news ever. Where would you go to celebrate and with whom?

Raphael, with Nitzan, my loved one for the past 17+ years

What do you love doing the most that is not work, relationship or family related?

Travelling but that’s work. So lazying & chilling in the sun, on the beach.

When you feel like going on a night out, what’s the first place you usually consider going to?

Breakfast Club on Rothschild. Damn they’re good!
