a bit about Nadav
What are you working on now?
These days I’m focusing on my bistro-cafe “Java”, a mission that demands most of my time. In the few free hours I have left I try to explore the amazing culinary hot spots the city has to offer and also organise private dinner parties.
What drives you mad these days?
The heat(!!), the shortage of young striving cooks and the difficulties of trying to make it in this country.
What is the thing that makes you happy?
Looking at my girlfriend while drinking the morning coffee.
When was the last time you cried?
Israeli men don’t cry.
What’s currently playing on repeat in your earphones?
Uptown Funk by Bruno Mars – Just pure fun.
What is the last movie you’ve watched?
A film called “Fucking Perfect” – An amazing documentary about 3 michelin stared Dutch chef Sergio Herman.
When it’s time for new clothes, where do you go to do your shopping?
I don’t have a specific store, I can buy anywhere and anything that catches my eye.
What’s your go-to café in Tel Aviv ?
My place, Java. I find myself spending a lot of my spare time over there and not for the obvious reasons. During the day the atmosphere is very laid back so it’s my time to think and by evenings it became my hanging with friends spot, in these hot telavivian summer nights. I honestly just love this place!
Where’s your favourite street or neighbourhood to wander in Tel Aviv?
The whole Levinski Market area and the streets surrounding it. The smells, sights, sounds, people and all the small restaurants and stands make me want to stay there all day long.
What’s the thing you LOVE doing in Tel Aviv but never actually seem to do?
Drink beer at the beach with my friends. As we are all getting older, it’s getting harder for everyone to find the time for it.
Who’s your hero and where would you take them out for a bite or a drink?
My father is my hero & idol, and the Minsar Bar is the perfect spot for us to seat, drink an ice cold tap beer and eat all kind of small treats. We love it there.
What would make a perfect day in the sun for you?
Eat, drink, sun, repeat.
It’s raining outside but you feel like going out – where would you go?
Rothschild 12 is the best during winter, either to sit by myself and work on my computer with a cup of coffee or in the evenings with friends, listening to the live music played by different Israeli musicians.
What’s that place in Tel Aviv that you feel like only you know about?
A spot on the cliff right above the Topsi Beach.
If you were given a choice, mayor of which neighbourhood would you like to be?
The mayor of my own neighbourhood in the “old north”. I would take Hayarkon park and make it as nice as Central Park in New York.
