What do you do and why do you do it?
I work in international education and I am a dance instructor. I love working in education because I think education is so important and exchanging ideas across cultures is a great way to open our minds and to create lasting friendships. It also takes me around the world which is great! I've been dancing since I was 4 years old and I love to both perform and teach dance. Dancing makes me feel great and I love seeing the joy in my students faces and bodies when they dance!
You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?
Anything that goes good with a scotch neat.
What are the best TV shows of all time?
Seinfeld, Schitt's Creek
Name some spots in Vancouver that are good for a Tinder date.
I don't do online dating so I can only guess. Maybe The Parlour in Yaletown, it has a good bar and you can get food if you like as well. If the date doesn't go well, you can meet up with your friends after at another bar since there are tons in Yaletown!
Who’s your hero and where in Vancouver would you take them out for a serious hang?
My best friend is my hero and we would go to Kits beach.
Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?
All over the world! Since I travel a lot my closet is a collection of pieces from the places I've been. Tokyo, New York, Brazil, Bali, Scandinavia, etc. If I'm in town, I like shopping in a mix of places from department stores like The Bay (Canadian) to small boutiques in Yaletown.
What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?
In jail ;)
What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?
What’s the most decadent / extreme dish you ever ate in Vancouver and where did you get it?
It's actually not that decadent but it is very delicious. The black truffle pizza at Nightingale. I could probably eat 2 whole pizzas! *Update, they don't have the original black truffle pizza I'm talking about here anymore but they do have a new one. I still have to try it...
Is there a hidden bar / hole in the wall in Vancouver that you particularly like?
Shebeen, a small whisky bar behind the Irish Heather in Gastown. They have a great selection of scotch.
What’s the most expensive restaurant / spa / hotel you’ve ever been to in Vancouver? How much did it cost and what did you get there?
It might be Chi, The Spa at the Shangri La Hotel. I think I got a facial for more than I normally spend. Recently I had a nice dinner at Le Crocodile, I think the bill was a few hundred for two.
What restaurant in Vancouver looks crap, but the food’s amazing?
Any small, Vietnamese restaurant. Sidenote, I don't think they look like crap but they are usually humble looking. For example One Saigon in downtown Vancouver. The food is delicious and the prices are great!
Where can you get the best cocktail in Vancouver? Which one do you like?
The Mint Julep at the The Diamond. They serve it properly in a pewter cup.
Where would you take your partner in Vancouver if you wanted to really pamper them?
I guess it depends on what they like but I think a spa day would be fun (Miraj Hammam, Chi or Willow Stream).
Which snacks can you only get in your country, and which ones do you recommend?
Ketchup chips, Smarties, Hawkins Cheezies. Poutine is Canadian but I have seen it occasionally in other countries lately but it is never as good as it is here. You should try poutine while you are here at a poutine/fry house such as Fritz in downtown Vancouver.
What’s the one place you think is overrated in Vancouver?
Vij's, it's good but I wouldn't wait in line for it. But then again, I don't like waiting in line for anything.
What’s the one place you think is underrated in Vancouver?
The bar at the Blue Water Café. Great service, proper drinks.
