What do you do and why do you do it?

I am a Health Advisor for the health department focused on improving health outcomes for the community. I enjoy working on the preventative side of public health and promoting healthy lifestyles and practices. My job affords me the opportunity to travel and encounter people with different backgrounds from my own.

You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?

Luckily I am married so I don't have to worry about that. BUT any heartbreak playlist should include "Jealous" by Labrinth and end with "F*ck You" by Cee Lo Green.

What are the best TV shows of all time?

The Office tops my list of the best TV shows of all time because nonsense is always welcome at Dunder Mifflin. My wife and I are watching the Great British Baking Show at the moment. Other favorite TV shows include Key & Peele, Game of Thrones, Parks and Recreation, 30 Rock, and Shameless.

Name some spots in Washington DC that are good for a Tinder date.

When my wife and I go out date nights we like to play a game called "who here is on a Tinder date." From what we have observed so far, popular locales include Rose's Luxury in SE, the Nationals Park stadium, Hamilton Loft free late night shows, Union Market in NE, Busboys and Poets, Portrait Gallery, or Tryst Coffee shop (for those people who aren't sure if it is a date or not).

Who’s your hero and where in Washington DC would you take them out for a serious hang?

I would take President Obama to Thomas Sweet in Georgetown. They make all of their ice creams and fudge in-house, and they have quite a few pictures hanging around the shop of him enjoying their ice cream cones.

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

I have more options buying clothes online from Need Supply Co., On The Byas, Gap, and Macy's for the office attire.

What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

Sit in Gravelly Point Park outside of the Ronald Reagan National Airport and watch the planes flying overhead. They come in so close to you as they take off and land, you can feel the ground vibrate.

Is there a hidden bar / hole in the wall in Washington DC that you particularly like?

Keren Restaurant on Florida Ave and 18th street. Best Eritrean food in town. I always come hungry and order the Keren Special since it comes with so much variety.

Where can you get the best cocktail in Washington DC? Which one do you like?

You can always expect great tasting rum and whiskey with a global theme at Dram & Grain. It is a secluded cocktail bar in the basement of Jack Rose in Adams Morgan. My favorite cocktail is Paradise Lost (Havana). The spicy black barrel rum is mixed with sherry wine, Italian bitter liqueur, roasted peanut syrup, and a FLAMING peanut shell garnish. It will drive your taste buds nuts!

Where would you take your partner in Washington DC if you wanted to really pamper them?

There are so many options in DC. One of the places on my list is the Iron Gate restaurant for the Chef's Tasting menu with drink pairings. My wife and I enjoy tapas style eating and the restaurant has a romantic vibe.

What’s the one place you think is overrated in Washington DC?

Chinatown! I think it exists solely for the gold archway and the business signs in both English and Chinese script. Other than those two things, it offers little except the Capital One Arena, large crowds and chain restaurants.

What’s the one place you think is underrated in Washington DC?

Theodore Roosevelt Island is a nature sanctuary in the middle of the Potomac River, accessible from the Rosslyn metro station. The island is full of trails and shady trees, and if you are lucky you can even stumbled upon deer. This is a great place to relax and feel like you've gotten away from the city. Not to mention the giant statute of Theodore Roosevelt in the middle of the island.

What are the Washington DC spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

Eastern Market in Capitol Hill, National Monuments tour at night, and a city view from a rooftop restaurant like Roofers Union.

Tomorrow’s your last day in Washington DC. How do you spend it?

Start my morning with a stroll through the National Zoo. It's feeding time then and perfect time to visit DC's local celebrity, Bei-Bei the panda, munching on his bamboo leaves. Then its off to brunch at Founding Farmers I would continue my afternoon at E Street Cinema for an indie or limited release movie. Probably schedule some time for a nap before meeting a group of friends at H Street Corridor for some good food and drinks the rest of the night.

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

Dublin, Ireland! It offers so much more than your average capital city. The city center is connected to a string of coastal towns, great pub scenes, bracing sea views, rolling green hills, and Game of Thrones film locations. “They say the clouds are lower in Ireland. I say Ireland is closer to Heaven.”
