What do you do and why do you do it?
I work an investment bank and am training to be a financial advisor (it's kind of the family business at this point). I used to work in marketing and PR in NYC for artists and designers, so I keep that love alive by visiting galleries and museums as much as possible.
You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?
I like to go for a mix of Adele, Radiohead and Amy Winehouse to make myself feel properly miserable before getting over it.
Name some spots in Washington DC that are good for a Tinder date.
The Line in Adams Morgan is perfect - the staff is friendly and helpful, drinks are delicious, and they have tons of delicious small bites to keep you from getting too buzzed. And who knows...if your date goes really well....The Line is a hotel ;)
Who’s your hero and where in Washington DC would you take them out for a serious hang?
Drake is my Canadian god. I would bring him to the Gibson so that we could hide away in one of the corner booths and trade secrets. It's so dark in there that no one would bother us either, and the ambiance is super sexy.
What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?
Any of the shopping malls! There are so many lovely outdoor shopping areas, including Georgetown and City Center in Chinatown that you don't need to torture yourself with depressing shopping malls.
What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?
I'm bummed that I work a 9-5 because that means I can only visit my favorite museums on the weekends! Luckily the National Portrait Gallery and American Art Museum are open until 7 on weekdays.
What’s the most decadent / extreme dish you ever ate in Washington DC and where did you get it?
I had a date take me to Fiola Mare and we ordered the seafood tower. What a spectacle - "tower" is a complete understatement!
Where would you take your partner in Washington DC if you wanted to really pamper them?
I would drive outside DC to SPA WORLD! It sounds cheesy but you can spend the whole day at this Korean spa and relax in various steam, stone, heat, and ice rooms. You can also get massages and scrubs in the bath houses. I've never been so relaxed in my life.
What’s the one place you think is overrated in Washington DC?
Georgetown Cupcakes - there are so many more amazing bakeries around the city! Check out Baked & Wired and Buttercream Bakeshop to satisfy your sweet tooth.
What’s the one place you think is underrated in Washington DC?
I think everyone should do a monuments tour at night. I especially love Roosevelt and Lincoln memorials. You can avoid the crowds and chaos and just get to embrace some gorgeous views of the city.
What are the Washington DC spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?
Definitely hit up some of our free museums, whether it's Hirschhorn, Air & Space, Portrait Gallery, or National Gallery of Art. Most cities don't offer free admission, so it's really worthwhile to take in some of the world's best art collections all in one area.
