What do you do and why do you do it?

I'm a journalist, and I do it because I love talking to people and telling stories. It means I spend a lot of time on social media, and a lot of time finding interesting places to talk to people.

You’re broken hearted - what tracks does your heartbreak playlist consist of?

Supercut, Lorde; Walk (back to your arms), Tami Neilson; Someone Like You, Adele; Valerie, Amy Winehouse. I actually have a playlist on Spotify called Righteous Anger for all your break up needs.

What are the best TV shows of all time?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sherlock, Doctor Who, The West Wing, Parks and Recreation, Top of the Lake.

Name some spots in Wellington that are good for a Tinder date.

I like to go somewhere I know the staff, so it's safe, and they'll help me escape if it's terrible. Failing that, somewhere interesting - the City Gallery, or somewhere there's a pub quiz. Some political theatre at Bats to see if your views align.

Who’s your hero and where in Wellington would you take them out for a serious hang?

Currently Patty Jenkins, and I'd take her to the Roxy. For a cocktail and a showing of something great.

Where do you buy those fabulous clothes of yours?

The Internet, mostly. There aren't unfortunately, a lot of stores for plus size women in Wellington - but if you're after accessories, I'm your woman.

What’s the area/ spot in town you’ll never be caught dead in?


What’s the thing you LOVE to do in your city that you never get to do?

Swim in the ocean. I a) run out of time and b) that water is cold, even in the height of summer.

What’s the most decadent / extreme dish you ever ate in Wellington and where did you get it?

A, like, 8 course degustation at Logan Brown. I was with my ex, and he paid, and I think his credit card had a hole in it at the end.

Is there a hidden bar / hole in the wall in Wellington that you particularly like?

It's not really that hidden, but it is a basement down an alleyway, so Hashigo Zake.

What’s the most expensive restaurant / spa / hotel you’ve ever been to in Wellington? How much did it cost and what did you get there?

My flatmate and I once spent a week's rent (NZ$550) on dinner (and 2 bottles of wine) at Hippopotamus. Worth it.

What restaurant in Wellington looks crap, but the food’s amazing?

Sweet Mother's Kitchen. Thunderbird

Where can you get the best cocktail in Wellington? Which one do you like?

Motel, and all of them?

Where would you take your partner in Wellington if you wanted to really pamper them?

Shepherd. We'd sit at the bar with my friend Nick, and eat as much as we could handle, and drink the bottle of beer in the fridge I've had my eye on for months.

Which snacks can you only get in your country, and which ones do you recommend?

Cheese and onion munchos.

What’s the one place you think is underrated in Wellington?

Petone - it's about a ten minute drive from the city, and there's heaps of cool little food places and great little shops. Oh, and also Little Penang.

What are the Wellington spots a first-time visitor can’t miss?

Go wander round the waterfront, have a gelato. Visit our extremely accessible Parliament, have a beer in any of the 37 beer places. Husk. Rogue and Vagabond, Goldings. Wander around the City Gallery, and

Tomorrow’s your last day in Wellington. How do you spend it?

Cry. Do a pub crawl around the city and say goodbye to everyone. Eat fried chicken at Husk and a po boy at Sweet Mother's Kitchen. Take an emotional wander along Freyberg beach, and then catch a movie at the Embassy. Pop into Hawthorn and have a night cap. Wander through the Basin, and then watch the sunset at the top of Mt Vic.

What’s your favorite vacation city in the world and why?

Port Vila, because it's the most beautiful place, with the best weather and the loveliest people.
