HaYarkon River separates the majority of Tel Aviv from its Northern suburban neighborhoods. It has recently been thoroughly cleaned and there are spots along it where you can rent rowing or mini-motor boats. The place always reminds me of my own childhood and my children’s, as well as their first boat experience.
The river is surrounded by grass on both sides. You can come with food from a deli and good drinks, spread a blanket and have a nice picnic. You can also rent your boat of choice and enjoy the pastoral atmosphere in a city that’s always racing. If you’re into sports, you can find many friends jogging along or playing basketball, tennis and soccer. There’s also a kids’ trampoline, a climbing wall for youngsters and more. You won’t find me running anywhere.
