Ein Karem is a picturesque village that is officially a part of Jerusalem, but feels like its own unique world. Deep in the valley below Yad Vashem and Har Herzel, and just before Hadassa Hospital, this hard-to-define neighborhood/village is an artist colony and pilgrimage sight. Ein Karem boasts several beautiful churches which have visiting hours. There is the spring itself, and then there are nature hikes throughout the area. There are great restaurants there as well as artist galleries. Worth reading up on before you go.
