A standout amongst the most expressionist architecture peace in Amsterdam, situated at the Spaarndammerplantsoen, is called Het Schip (The Ship). The former post office has been build in the years 1911-1920 and was intended for the lodging by the planner Michel de Klerk. It contain 120 low rent flats, school, post office and a community house.
The whole area around Het Schip is an interesting part of the city, build largely in the Amsterdam School style and extensively renovated. You may still see how locals live in the districts less frequented by a lot the tourists.
