Kamonegi is a local darling for their handmade soba and tempura, hitting the national awards level with a James Beard nomination this year. Some people find Chef Soma "socially awkward" but introverts will be right at home here. I can't personally eat here because I have celiac disease and they use some wheat in their handmade soba preparation, but I would go for bubbles and/or saki while my friends happily slurp the soba and crunch the tempura and I get to live vicariously. It's been busy with all their press to date, so plan ahead and be patient since it's a small, popular space.
