If you’re in Soho off-peak and want a quick dose of Japanese café-style counter dining, go to Koya Bar. The daily special board means there’ll always be something new and tempting. The urban legend is that the Koya chefs knead the noodle dough the traditional way: with their feet. Whether or not this is true, the fresh udon noodles are dreamy and so is the vegetable tempura and miso soup. I say off-peak because this spot is a victim of its own success and the queues can be lengthy at meal times.
