Amsterdam is the market town of the Netherlands. At the foot of the Noorderkerk, on one of the most beautiful squares in the city, ia a market called the Noordermarkt and it is held on Mondays and Saturdays. A market with a tradition that dates back to the seventeenth century. Over the centuries, the market was organised daily, weekly or as a yearly market. The Noordermarkt was therefore of great importance to the development and flourishing of the city in the Golden Age with the many other markets in Amsterdam. To this day, the Noordermarkt still fulfils an essential social economic function in Amsterdam.
