Pathé Tuschinski, originally Theater Tuschinski, is a theatre with six cinemas.
It was built by order of Abraham Tuschinski and was opened 1921. The building is designed in a number of different styles, including Amsterdam School, Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
The richly decorated façade in the striking, entirely unique style was intended to lead the public into an illusory world of the motion pictures.
Abraham Tuschinski was gassed in Auschwitz in 1942.
Between 1998-2002 a restoration took place, first of the exterior, then of the interior. The starting point of this restoration was the film theatre as it was built by Abraham Tuschinski.
