The triangle of alleys between Piazza del fico (no wider than a normal road), via della Pace and vicolo del Fico is one of the most fascinating areas of Rome. In evening its a movida zone but in the morning and early afternoon seems to walk in a small medieval country. The outdoor tables of the various bars are ideal for a glass of wine at sunset. I love very much the facade of Santa Maria della Pace church and the nearby Cloister of Bramante. In the afternoon, the best chess players of Rome come here (in front of bar del Fico) to compete in endless games on three tables placed right under a large fig tree that gives its name to the area.
