Society Hill is a charming neighborhood with a huge collection of Colonial Era homes. Philadelphia probably has more Colonial Era homes than any other city in the country. This is a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood to explore. It was almost destroyed, but in the 1950's city planner Edmund Bacon (father of Kevin) saved it and encouraged the rehab of decrepit homes. Now it is lovely and expensive- you would never know it used to be in such bad shape and infested. Do yourself a favor and spend an hour or two just wandering around. Find charming alleys, artwork, and sit in Three Bears Park.
